The 21-year-old rowed 3,000 miles over 70 days.
Jasmine Harrison of England has just set a new record for the youngest female to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean. The 21-year-old took part in the 2020 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge where she rowed from Spain to Antigua in the course of 70 days, 3 hours, and 48 minutes.
After over 3,000 miles, 80 pounds of chocolate, “lots of peanut butter and Nutella” and “two capsizes and a near collision with a drilling ship,” Harrison’s incredible feat places her in the history books as the youngest solo female to ever row an ocean.
When asked what made her take on such a daunting task, she mentioned that she was inspired in 2018 when she was in Antigua for the finish of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge and so that her feat can hopefully, “inspire more young people, particularly girls to just give something a go.”
