Aptera Motors' Futuristic Three-Wheeler Is Powered by the Sun

It can achieve up to 45 miles from solar power alone, or up to 1,000 miles when paired with its electric motor.

Aptera Motors wants you to say hello to the future of automotive with its new advanced solar electric vehicle. This is the first solar electric vehicle in the world, pairing liquid-cooled electric motors with integrated solar panels to provide a maximum range of 1,000 miles on a single charge.

The automotive company claims that its car will require “no charging for most drivers” because it can deliver up to 45 miles of range per day running off the solar-powered component alone. It achieves this thanks to three square meters of solar paneling that is formed by 180 individual solar cells incorporated all around the car’s bodywork.

Aptera Motors put efficiency at the forefront when designing the body. Made from just four main pieces (which also reduces build time and increases cost efficiency), the three-wheeled car boasts a very low drag coefficient of .13 that enables it to slip through the air which, as a result, further increases its range.

All of this translates to a car that achieves 0-60 MPH in 3.5 seconds and can hit 110 MPH. It can also be equipped with all-wheel drive and vectorized torque control that give the car better stability control, comfort, and increased handling abilities in more testing environments.

Aptera Motors’ special-edition Paradigm and Paradigm+ versions, available in ranges of 250, 400, 600, or 1,000 miles in both AWD and FWD packages, can be reserved on Aptera Motors’ website now for just $100 USD. Pricing is between $25,900 USD and $46,900 USD, depending on which spec you choose.
