Beautifully designed addition to this regions world class science city.
China‘s Shenzhen has tapped Zaha Hadid Architects to create its latest Science & Technology Museum in its Guangming Science City, resulting in a project which explores the “solidity and dynamic curvilinear geometries” inspired by the city’s urban circulation routes.
Forming part of the region’s World Class Science City, the new museum will connect with various universities, schools, and institutions across the Asian country while bringing to the forefront Shenzhen’s reputation as an epicenter of technological innovation. A U-shaped design features an atrium courtyard in the center surrounded by numerous educational and public spaces for exhibitions and galleries, all of which span across 125,000 square feet.
Extending its design sensibilities from its interior to its exterior, the flow of the structure also connects the museum’s atrium to its surroundings, blending into the natural landscapes of Guangming Park. With focus placed on energy performance, air quality, wind flow and natural lighting, the museum also hopes to become a sustainable model that the rest of the region can build on.
Construction for the museum is scheduled to complete by 2023.
